24 Hour Generator Repair:
We troubleshoot then repair the components and the generators
that work with the generator. If necessary we will disassemble, rebuild and
replace bad parts; or we will bolt a new generator end onto your engine. We'll
try and give you the best solution for the most reasonable price.
24 Hour Engine Repair:
We trouble shoot
and repair diesel and gas engines. When an engine has a problem good
trouble shooting methods are the way to find the problem. In the worst
case we do major overhauls and rebuilds. The complete System from the air
cleaner to the exhaust muffler will be inspected, cleaned and/or replaced.
24 Hour Transfer Switch Repair:
We
trouble shoot and repair automatic Transfer switches. We will replace
necessary parts and lubricate to make your T/S operate correctly. If
needed we will disassemble the entire switch and rebuild as needed.

Preventative Maintenance Inspection Agreement:
The Preventative Maintenance Inspection Agreement
is for one Year period. The contract includes time, mileage and parts listed.
The agreement has two parts, an operation check and service. The operation
check is at the top of the list, the service is at the top and the bottom.
Everything listed on the checklist is completed and signed by the mechanic.
If something is requested by the customer that isn't on the list it will be
added to the checklist and the price will be adjusted before customer signatures.
Nothing will be done on an if needed basis, if it is on the checklist it gets
done or we will back out for free. If a problem is found by the mechanic,
he will notify the customer and get permission to fix it. If work is done
at that time then the customer will pay for parts and labor only. If the problem
requires more time or labor to finish the service then the customer will pay
for travel time and mileage for us to return and finish the checklist. In
the case of a mechanic being pulled away for a break down somewhere else,
the customer will not have any additional costs. The Preventive maintenance
service is set up to give your generator years of service with the reliability
you demand. Each component of the generator and transfer switch is looked
at and checked by a mechanic. When you sign the contract you the customer
will get a $ 5.00 an hour break on scheduled repairs and services. The contract
also gives you priority during major storms and outages.
Installation and Consultation:
If you are thinking of installing a generator there
are a lot of Options and way to accomplish it. With having a company that
services generators for a living set it up and install it, you will be given
the best install to guarantee 100% operation of the generator. West Generator
Services strives to install and maintain your emergency system as one of the
best in the business.
Reconditioning:
In the way you look at reconditioning a generator is the key to doing
the job correctly. Over time all components break down and start to fail,
that's why replacing one thing may not be the best way. We take history of
each make and model into consideration and try to come up with the best recommendation
for each customer. The end result has to be a good dependable generator for
the money.
Load Bank Testing:
Generators are designed to run best at 100% load. A load bank test
is the best thing you should do to a generator that spent most of its life
without working. The load bank test will tell you two things, is the generator
in good enough shape to handle what it was made too, and tell you if it was
installed correctly. On a generator that does not have high % of load it is
good to load test at lest every years.
Daytanks:
The fuel system is one of the most important systems on the engine
so that makes the day tank critical. There are a lot of factors that determine
the size of the tank, On some engines 80% of the fuel is returned to keep
the fuel under 95 degrees Fahrenheit so the engine does not have a power loss.
If the tank can't absorb the heat from the engine the generator will slow
down and do possible damage to the equipment hooked to it. The tanks are under
new laws all the time that keeps us changing the way we set them up. Our federal
government now calls diesel a contaminated waste if spilled into the ground
and if your system is pumping fuel out of a supply tank that could spell trouble.
We use universal alarms and monitor to keep the level right and let you know
of a problem.
Remote Radiators:
Generators are typically
set up with a direct drive pusher fan off the water pump. The fan is sized
to pull all the heat off the generator windings, exhaust manifolds and coolant
to the outside of the building, in the process the generator room turn into
a wind tunnel. On below freezing days everything in the room goes to outside
temperature that is why no water pipes are recommended in the rooms including
wet fire sprinkler. The benefits of a remote radiator are Fan noise, vibration
and 80% of airflow is outside of the building.
Block Heaters:
Block heaters are one of the most important system of the engine.
The block heater is very important all year long because a generator will
be at 100% load within 10 seconds from getting start signal. In most cases
the engine does not even have oil pressure when its running at full RPMs.
When steel is cold it is brittle, steel engine parts at 1800 RPMs, no oil
pressure at room temperature is not the best for the engine. Factory recommend
keeping the engine temp around 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Battery Chargers:
The starting battery is most critical part of the auto start system.
Dead batteries are one of the most command generator failures in this industry.
The job of the battery charger is to keep the battery voltage at its proper
level. Older battery charger do not turn them selves on and off to keep for
cooking the batteries dry, a dry battery can and will explode doing damage
to anything next to it including humans.
Electronic Governors:
In today's world, computers are a every day thing and run equipment
for everything we do. More and more computerized loads on the back up generators
demanding closer tolerances in electrical power. A electronic governor will
keep your Hz. Within 0.05% enough to hold a UPS system. A electronic governor
can be installed to any generator with a flywheel ring gear. The system takes
a day to put on and will make the generator except loads much faster.
Announciator Panels:
Having your emergency power system monitored 24 hours a day gives
you the fastest response to a problem. A Announciator is a alarm panel that
is mounted in a place that is manned 24 Hours a day so proper assistance can
be called. The Announciator monitors the engine controls and fuel status with
or without running.
Exhaust Systems:
Engine exhaust is a dangerous gas that has to be vented outside with
the proper size pipe and condensation / rust traps. With generator vibration
a stainless steel flex is recommended from engine to Y pipe connection. Very
short exhaust systems such as outside units do not need Y pipe condensation
/ rust trap for the entire system gets hot enough to dry it out during weekly
exercise. A exhaust system in a building needs this protection for long life
of engine and muffler parts. Because exhaust system can reach temperatures
of 800 to 1000 degrees rapping the pipe in insulation is recommended.
